'Itou Junji: Crimson' Anime Series Announced

Crunchyroll announced on July 4 at Japan Expo 2025 that a new anime series based on the titles by horror manga creator Junji Itou, titled Itou Junji: Crimson, is in production. The anime series is the third installment to the anthology series, following Itou Junji: Collection and Itou Junji: Maniac. Crunchyroll will stream the anime worldwide. Singer-songwriter Yumi Matsutoya (Majo no Takkyuubin, Kaze Tachinu) is performing the opening theme "Karasuageha." Produced by Studio Deen, Junji Itou: Collection adapted stories from Itou Junji Kessaku-shuu (Junji Ito Masterpiece Collection) and Ma no Kakera (Fragments of Horror) manga and aired in 12 episodes from January 2018 to March 2018. Crunchyroll is simulcasting Collection with English subtitles and a dub. Itou Junji: Maniac adapted other stories from his collection and was released in January 2023 on the Netflix streaming service worldwide with English subtitles and dub.
