'Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu' Second Season in Production

The 12th and final episode of Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu (The Summer Hikaru Died) ended with an announcement on Sunday that a second season is in production. The official website also revealed an announcement visual (pictured) and announcement promo. Produced by CygamesPictures, the first anime season adapting Mokumokuren's supernatural mystery manga premiered on July 6. Netflix streamed the anime worldwide with subtitles in multiple languages. Mokumokuren originally posted the manga on their X (formerly Twitter) account before beginning serialization on the Young Ace UP website in August 2021. Kadokawa published the seventh volume on July 4. Mio Nukaga began penning a light novel adaptation under the Kadokawa Shoten label in December 2023. Kadokawa released the second volume on July 4. Yen Press licensed the manga in English in September 2022 and released the fifth volume on March 18, with the sixth volume scheduled to go on sale on October 28. The company also licensed the light novel adaptation in English in October 2024.
