'Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru' Gets Second Season

The 12th and final episode of the Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru (From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman) television anime announced a second season on Sunday. The new season is scheduled to premiere in 2026. Produced by Passione and Hayabusa Film, the television anime adapting Shigeru Sagazaki's fantasy adventure novel began airing on April 5. Amazon Prime streamed the anime worldwide with subtitles. Sagazaki began writing the fantasy adventure story on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in November 2020. Square Enix began publishing the light novel under its SQEX Novel imprint in April 2021, with illustrations by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima (Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyou). The ninth volume was released on March 27. A manga adaptation by Kazuki Satou began in Young Champion magazine in August 2021. Akita Shoten shipped the seventh volume on March 27. J-Novel Club licensed the light novel in English in October 2023 and released the third volume on May 15. The sixth volume went on sale on January 15, with the seventh volume scheduled for a July 2 release. Yen Press licensed the manga on March 29 and shipped the third volume on May 27, with the fourth volume scheduled to go on sale on October 28.
