The official website of the Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai (Kaya-chan Isn't Scary) television anime revealed four additional cast, staff, theme song, and a second promotional video on Thursday. The anime series adapting Tarou Yuri's school supernatural manga will premiere on January 11, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. on TV Tokyo's six affiliate networks, AT-X, and WOWOW.
Hiroshi Ikehata (Dark Gathering) is directing the anime at East Fish Studio. Shigeru Murakoshi (Zombieland Saga) is handling the series composition.
Tarou Yamada (Kyochuu Rettou CG director) and Hiroyuki Moriguchi (Around 40 Otoko no Isekai Tsuuhan) are designing the characters. Kohta Yamamoto (Mato Seihei no Slave) and Shun Narita (Nozomanu Fushi no Boukensha) are composing the music.
Yuri began serializing the manga on the Kurage Bunch website in April 2022. Shinchosha published the seventh volume on June 9, with the eighth volume scheduled to be released on January 8, 2026.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English in November 2024 and shipped the third volume on October 28. The fourth volume is planned for a January 6, 2026 release.
