The official website for the television anime adaptation of Motoo Nakanishi's Kijin Gentoushou (Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentoushou) novel revealed supporting cast and a key visual for the Meiji arc (pictured), which began with episode 22 on Tuesday. The website also announced that due to production issues, the broadcast schedule for the final two episodes has been changed. The 22nd episode will be rebroadcast on September 16 on Tokyo MX, followed by episode 23 on September 23 and the 24th and final episode on September 30. Kazuya Aiura (Assassins Pride) is helming the anime at Yokohama Animation Lab. Deko Akao (Ragna Crimson) is handling the series composition and Tarou Ikegami (Seiken Densetsu) is designing the characters. Ryuuichi Takada (MONACA) (Summertime Render), Keiichi Hirokawa (MONACA) (Shangri-La Frontier), and Kuniyuki Takahashi (MONACA) (Liar Liar) are composing the music. Nakanishi originally penned the historical fantasy novel on the Arcadia website from January 2013 to May 2016, followed by a continuation on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in September–October that year. Futabasha began publishing the novel with illustrations by Tamaki in June 2019. The 14th volume was published in November 2023. Monthly Action began serializing a manga adaptation by Yuu Satomi in September 2021. Futabasha released the eighth volume on March 19, with the ninth volume scheduled for a September 10 release. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the novel and manga adaptation in February 2022. The tenth novel volume went on sale on August 19, with the 11th volume scheduled to be released on November 4. The seventh manga volume shipped on September 9, with the eighth volume going on sale in January 2026.
