The official website of the Kusunoki no Bannin (The Keeper of the Camphor Tree) anime movie revealed additional cast, staff, key visual (pictured), and the first promotional video on Tuesday. The movie adapting Keigo Higashino's fantasy novel will premiere in Japanese theaters on January 30, 2026.
Tomohiko Itou (Hello World) is helming the anime at A-1 Pictures and Psyde Kick Studio. Taku Kishimoto (Boku dake ga Inai Machi) is penning the script. Tsubasa Yamaguchi (Blue Period) and Ayako Itagaki (Kagami no Kojou animation director) are designing the characters.
Jitsugyou no Nihonsha published the novel in hardcover and paperback in March 2020 and April 2023, respectively.
