Digital platform Oshi has announced an anime adaptation of Takumi Yanai's Gate Season 2: Jieitai Kano Umi nite Kaku Tatakaer (Gate 2: Tides of Conflict) light novel on Thursday, revealing the lead staff. Yanai originally penned the adventure fantasy light novel on the Arcadia website from 2006 to 2009. AlphaPolis published the novel in five volumes between April 2010 to December 2011, featuring illustrations by Daisuke Izuka. The Gate Season 2 sequel novel was published in five volumes from July 2017 to November 2020. A-1 Pictures adapted the original light novel into a 24 episode television anime, airing in split cours in Summer 2016 and Winter 2016. Synopsis Following the reopening of the mysterious ‘Gate,' the Japanese Self-Defense Forces continue diplomatic and exploratory missions in the Special Region, a realm parallel to our world.
