The editorial department of Shounen Sunday announced on Wednesday that Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe's Sousou no Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey's End) manga will be going on hiatus starting from the next issue. The notice stated that the decision was made after considering the health of both creators, Yamada and Abe, and that the manga's serialization pace and publication format will be adjusted moving forward. The statement also mentioned that the two authors will continue working on the series while receiving support from the editorial team, and that details regarding its return schedule will be announced in future issues of Shounen Sunday. Yamada and Abe began serializing the fantasy adventure manga in Shounen Sunday in April 2020. Shogakukan published the 14th volume on March 18, with the 15th volume scheduled for release on December 18. Sousou no Frieren has over 30 million copies of its volumes in circulation. Madhouse produced a 28-episode television anime adaptation in Fall 2023. A second season is scheduled to premiere on January 16, 2026. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in February 2021 and released the 13th volume on May 13. The 14th volume is planned for a February 10, 2026, release.
