Manga 'Youchien Wars' Gets TV Anime

Publishing company Shueisha announced a television anime adaptation of You Chiba's Youchien Wars (Kindergarten Wars) manga on Thursday. They also revealed the main cast and an illustration (pictured) drawn by Chiba to commemorate the announcement. Voice actors Atsumi Tanezaki (Sousou no Frieren) and Kentarou Kumagai (Dungeon Meshi) are starring as Rita and Doug, respectively. Chiba began serializing the action comedy manga on the Shounen Jump+ web magazine in September 2022. Shueisha published the 15th volume on August 4. The series has a cumulative 1.7 million copies of its volumes in circulation. Yen Press licensed the manga in English in October 2024 and released the second volume on September, 2025. The third volume is scheduled to ship on January 20, 2026. Shueisha's Manga Plus platform also publishes it in English, Spanish, Thai, and French. Synopsis Kindergarten Noir is widely known as the world's safest kindergarten. Attended by the children of wealthy and notable figures, its defenses are seemingly impenetrable, even though assassination attempts are a big part of the daily routine. However, the teachers of the kindergarten are far from ordinary—they are all convicted criminals trying to reduce their sentences. The recently joined legendary assassin named Rita is no different.
