The official website for the television anime adaptation of Isuna Hasekura's Ookami to Koushinryou (Spice & Wolf) light novel revealed new staff and a teaser visual (pictured) for the second season on Friday. Rina Sugimoto (Gatchaman Crowds Insight sub-character design) NEW Hasekura originally submitted the novel at the Dengeki Novel Prize in 2005 and won the Silver Prize. Kadokawa began publishing the novel under its Dengeki Bunko imprint with illustrations by Juu Ayakura in February 2006 and published the 24th volume in January 2023. Ookami to Koushinryou has a cumulative 5 million copies of its volumes in circulation. Keito Koume drew a manga adaptation in Dengeki Maoh from September 2007 to December 2017. Kadokawa published the 16th and final volume in February 2018. Yen Press licensed the light novel and manga for English release in September 2008 and February 2009, respectively and published the 24th novel volume in August 2023. The 16th manga volume went on sale in December 2018.
